Womelsdorf, February 3, 1999: Peter Abraham, President/CEO of Dynamic Net,
Inc., is set to give a speech on the Year 2000 issue to area business owners. Perchansky
will present the address at the Deluxe Restaurant on Lancaster Ave. in Shillington. The
Y2K speech, which will be sponsored by the Shillington Rotary Club, will begin at 6:00 PM
on Tuesday February 15th.
Perchansky foreshadowed that, "This speech is aimed at area business owners . We
hope to bring further awareness to this pressing issue, if owners have not taken the
proper steps already. We also want to spotlight what other businesses have done to address
the Y2K issue."
The Y2K Bug is a program driven error that could shut down the operation of many of the
everyday machines that society can encounter, like automated bank teller machines,
elevators , and even as far as airplanes and airports. This programming error has to due
with ending zeroes in the year 2000. Older programs that stored years as two-digits can
experience problems when using zeros in date comparisons.
Perchansky went on to add, "This matter needs the business owners full attention,
because of the ramification that this bug can cause. This bug can shut down banking
systems and cripple airports. The sooner that this issue is brought into the spotlight the
sooner owners can start fixing the problem."
For those business owners that wish to attend the Y2K speech, can contact Norman Jones
of the Shillington Rotary Club at (610) 777-0183.
