New service offering -- Anti-virus scanning for email
By Peter M. Abraham
August 2003
In the late
afternoon on August 7, our Parallels H-Sphere hosting plans now include free virus
protection from over 9,300 known viruses.
Our system
automatically checks for new virus definition updates every hour, so that
you have the most recent protection.
From the late afternoon on Thursday, August 7 to 1:00 PM
EDT, Tuesday, August 19 we have blocked 1,680 virus from reaching
the email boxes of our clients.
Viruses blocked include the new MBlast, Klez, variations of Slobig, and
more.
The system we are
using offers a level of protection against unknown viruses as well.
When the system
detects a virus, the virus and the entire message is put into a quarantine
area with access limited to our system administrators; the system
administrators are notified of the quarantined files.
Depending on the
type of virus (some viruses alter the email address of the sender), the
sender will be notified so they can clean up their system.
We hope you enjoy
this added level of safety; and that this feature brings you more peace of
mind.
Please feel free
to call or email with questions.
Thank you. |
