Parallels H-Sphere Migration Status Report
By Peter M. Abraham
September 2003
Diane Bonafiglia, Ryan May, and Jake Winemiller all helped
tremendously with the migration.
We are down to our last leg with only eight more sites to
be migrated; then all of our customers will be on our Parallels H-Sphere Web Servers.
For the curious, we currently have three servers in our
Parallels H-Sphere cluster with the goal to have four by the end of this year.
The 4th server, if all goes well, will be running Windows 200x (we are still
debating on Windows 2003).
During our several months last year of home work reviewing
Parallels H-Sphere, one of the key attractions is that Parallels H-Sphere provides complete
shared hosting automation for RedHat Linux, FreeBSD (yet another flavor of
UNIX), and Windows 200x.
When we are able to go down the Windows 200x road with
Parallels H-Sphere, our Windows 2000 customers who are migrated to the new Parallels H-Sphere
Windows server will benefit from having the same user interface as our
UNIX-based clients.
Furthermore, our Windows 200x clients will then benefit
from our anti-virus and SPAM prevention / tagging systems in place.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
