Moving towards SMTP Authentication to reduce spam Part II
By Peter M. Abraham
February 2005
In October of 2004 we notified all of our Parallels H-Sphere customers that we are
moving towards SMTP Authentication as the only form of sending out email
through our servers.
Please note this move does not impact our VPS, co-located, or dedicated
server customers or those customers on our Windows hosting platform.
If you are a shared hosting customer on our Parallels H-Sphere platform, we need
you to start changing your email programs -- Eudora, Microsoft Outlook and
Outlook Express, Netscape, and other -- to use SMTP Authentication to send
out email.
Please take a moment to find your email program below, and review the
settings that need to be changed.
Please make this changes over the next few weeks. By the end of
March 2005 we will be flicking the switch (so to speak) to turn off POP
before SMTP authentication so that only SMTP Authentication will work to
send out email.
Please see the following article for more information on why we are
moving in this direction:
Preparing for the near future of email.

have any questions.
Thank you. |
